Their short, stiff hairs embed in fabric and furniture, making regular brushing essential for household management. A rubber curry brush is most effective at lifting out loose hairs from the dense, short coat.

Bathing Tips

Bathe every 6-8 weeks using a gentle, moisturizing shampoo. The short coat dries quickly and requires minimal effort. Use a brightening shampoo to keep the white base coat crisp and prevent yellowing. Avoid harsh shampoos as Dalmatians can have sensitive skin. A thorough rubber curry session before bathing loosens dead hair for easier removal.

Seasonal Care

Dalmatians shed heavily year-round with peaks in spring and fall. There is no low-shedding season for this breed. In Houston heat, their short coat provides good air circulation but minimal sun protection for the white-coated areas. Monitor for sunburn on the ears, nose, and any areas with thin hair coverage.
