Pomapoos can inherit the Pomeranian's dense double coat, the Poodle's curly single coat, or a wavy blend of both. A fine-tooth comb should follow every slicker session to catch hidden knots close to the skin. For curlier-coated Pomapoos, a pin brush works well for fluffing after detangling.

Bathing Tips

Bathe every 3-4 weeks using a gentle, moisturizing shampoo formulated for fine or curly coats. Pomapoos with more Pomeranian-type coats benefit from a volumizing conditioner, while curlier coats need a detangling conditioner worked through thoroughly before rinsing. Always blow-dry completely on a low heat setting, as air-drying can cause matting in both coat types.

Spot-brush problem areas daily rather than waiting for full grooming sessions, and keep sanitary areas trimmed to maintain cleanliness between professional visits.

Seasonal Care

Pomapoos with double coats shed more noticeably in spring and fall. During these periods, increase brushing to twice daily and consider adding an undercoat rake to your routine. In Houston's summer heat, keep the coat trimmed shorter but never shaved to the skin, as the coat provides UV protection. Winter care is minimal in warm climates but a light moisturizing spray prevents dry coat from indoor heating.
