Focus on the neck ruff, chest, and the rear feathering. A rubber curry brush works well for the shorter body coat.

Bathing Tips

Bathe every 6-8 weeks with a gentle, all-purpose shampoo. The Vallhund's coat is naturally weather-resistant and stays relatively clean. Ensure complete drying of the dense undercoat with a high-velocity dryer to prevent dampness-related skin issues.

Vallhunds blow their undercoat twice yearly with particularly heavy shedding in spring. Daily raking is required during these 2-3 week periods. Summer coat is lighter and lower-maintenance. Winter coat grows dense and weatherproof, requiring regular maintenance to stay tangle-free.
