Brushing Routine

Bordoodles (Border Collie x Poodle) can inherit the Border Collie's medium-length double coat, the Poodle's curly coat, or a popular wavy blend. Brush daily with a slicker brush, working from the skin outward in sections. For wavy and curly coats, a pin brush and steel comb combination works best for detangling without breaking the coat. Bordoodles with more Collie influence need an undercoat rake during shedding periods. Focus on the areas behind the ears, the ruff, and leg feathering.

Bathing Tips

Bathe every 4-6 weeks using a balanced, pH-neutral shampoo. Bordoodles with the Collie's double coat should use a deshedding shampoo during shedding season, while curlier coats benefit from a moisturizing formula. Always condition thoroughly and rinse completely, as product residue in the dense coat leads to irritation. Blow-dry fully to prevent matting as the coat dries.

Seasonal Care

Bordoodles with double coats shed notably in spring and fall. During these transitions, increase brushing to twice daily and incorporate an undercoat rake.
