Brush once weekly with a soft rubber curry comb or hound glove. Their ultra-short, fine coat requires minimal brushing but benefits from regular skin stimulation. A chamois cloth after brushing produces a beautiful shine on their sleek coat.

Bathing Tips

Bathe every 6-8 weeks or as needed with a gentle, hypoallergenic shampoo. Greyhounds have thin, sensitive skin that dries out easily -- use an oatmeal-based or aloe shampoo. Apply a light moisturizing conditioner since their skin lacks the oil production of thicker-coated breeds.

Extend Your Grooming Results

Seasonal Care

Greyhounds shed lightly year-round with minimal seasonal variation. In Houston summers, their thin coat and lean body make them heat-sensitive -- limit outdoor time in peak heat. In winter, they absolutely need coats and sweaters since they have almost no body fat or undercoat for insulation.
