For smooth-coated Ibizans, brush weekly with a rubber curry comb or hound glove. For wire-coated Ibizans, use a slicker brush and stripping knife 2-3 times weekly. Both coat types are relatively low-maintenance but benefit from regular grooming to distribute oils.

Bathing Tips

Bathe every 6-8 weeks with a mild, fragrance-free shampoo. Ibizans have sensitive skin, so hypoallergenic formulas work best. Their naturally clean coat rarely develops odor, so baths are more about skin health than cleanliness.

Ibizans shed lightly year-round with a slight increase in spring. In Houston summers, protect their large, thin ears from sun exposure and provide shade. Their lean build and thin coat make them heat-sensitive despite their Mediterranean origins. In winter, they need a coat for outdoor time.
